Victor T. Copeland, MD
Partner - Management and Surgery for Diseases of the Retina, Vitreous and Macula
Dr. Copeland is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery. Originally from Atlanta, Dr. Copeland joined Athens Retina Center in 2015. He currently serves as the Chief of the EENT division at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center and is on the executive council for the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology. Outside of direct patient care, his ophthalmology interests include remote retinal imaging and he has participated in ongoing projects with both Google and Pursuant Health.
Dr. Copeland received his Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University with a major in Psychology and Concentration in Neurosciences. After attending medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. During his final year at UMMC he was awarded the Caldwell Award as the top resident across all specialties in the hospital system from the Medical Assurance Company of Mississippi. Dr. Copeland then completed a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Wake Forest University.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Copeland enjoys all things outdoors, golf, sports, reading, and spending time with his wife, Caroline, and three children.
